Dancing Together: Pedagogy of Pas De Deux
This workshop will explore contemporary pedagogy for teaching Pas de Deux and partnering in both classical and contemporary dance. General strategies for introducing non-contact and contact partnering for dance students of all levels, including the ethics of consent around contact with youth students will be discussed. We will also discuss a programmatic series of movement games designed to build Pas de Deux skills in preparation for partnered pointe work, and a set of specific vocabulary for breaking down partnered material.
